February 2025. RADET 86. Radon detection.

The Canfranc Underground Laboratory (LSC) is located under the Tobazo mountain in the Aragonese Pyrenees, near the border between Spain and France. It is located about 800 metres underground, which protects it from cosmic rays and provides a low background radioactive environment that facilitates the study of natural phenomena. Experiments in dark matter, biology, neutrinos, nuclear and cryogenics are currently being carried out.

The total area of the LSC is about 1,250 m² and consists of two experimental rooms, as well as offices, laboratories, a clean room, a mechanical workshop and a gas storage room. It also has a Biology Platform and an Auditorium.
Due to its location surrounded by rocky mountains, it is exposed to the presence of radon, so its laboratories are equipped with detectors of this dangerous gas, RADET 86, designed and manufactured by DURÁN ELECTRÓNICA.
