To cover the extensive areas of Lima and Callao, this metropolitan railway was created. The first studies began in 1960, thus ending the Lima Tram.
The network has five lines, although it is under development of expansion through the Basic Network of the Lima and Callao Metro approved by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which includes a Line 6, it reaches approximately 165 km in length.
In its stage 1A there is Line 2 with an approximate cost of 5,659 million dollars. For 27 km it runs, from east to west, through the center of the Peruvian capital, linking the district of Ate with El Callao. The stations of this first stage are: Evitamiento, Óvalo Santa Anita, Colectora Industrial, Hermilio Valdizán and Mercado Santa Anita, which with an estimated time of only 15 minutes improves the congestion of vehicles with a high quality of life for citizens.
DURTEX X-HC PRO detectors designed and manufactured by Durán Electrónica have been installed for the battery rooms of the Line 2, stage 1A metro stations.
