DURGAS CO and NO2 Detection

After having various locations in Madrid throughout the 19th century, the current Banco de España building was built to provide the Banco Nacional with a fixed headquarters more in keeping with the importance of its functions, such as the single issue of coins and banknotes for the whole of Spain.

The current building is located in Plaza de Cibeles, where the streets of Alcalá and Paseo del Prado meet, and was inaugurated by King Alfonso XII in 1891. After several extensions, the current building has a total floor area of 4,736 square metres, comprising the ground floor, three floors above ground level and four basements.

The central headquarters of the Bank of Spain has once again relied on DURGAS system, renewing the CO and NO2 gas detection system as an improvement in the ventilation control of its underground car park. DURGAS has been designed and manufactured by Duran Electrónica.
