EMT HYDROGEN PLANT, MADRID

OCTOBER 2024. H2 detection and MODBUS integration

EMT, Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid, is a public company with a fleet of more than 2,100 buses that provides public transport services in Madrid. In order to reduce the volume of polluting gases and to support transport and sustainability, it is implementing a project to build a hydrogen plant at the Entrevías Operations Centre in Vallecas. It has an investment of 10.86 million euros.

This innovative plant allows the refuelling of green hydrogen for light vehicles, such as cars and heavy vehicles such as buses, etc., making H2 a fundamental energy source for clean, sustainable and zero-emission mobility. It is equipped with several hydrogen refuelling stations and the implementation of the necessary facilities for the production, via electrolysis, of up to 440kg/day, high-pressure storage in a tank with a capacity of up to 500 kg of hydrogen and two low-pressure storage systems, a cooler down to -40º and hydrogen distribution.

It also has a two-nozzle dispenser with infrared sensor communication at 700 bar for light vehicles and 350 bar for heavy vehicles. This pioneering installation is protected by the DURGAS system, with DURTOX X detectors for the early detection of H2 and INTEGRA-II integration, all designed and manufactured by Durán Electrónica.
