Weather stations in rail tunnel.

The Pajares tunnels are part of the Pajares turnoff, a high speed (AVE) rail line stretch that connects part of North-Western Spain to the Central Plateau. The tunnels are the fifth longest in Europe (after the Guadarrama tunnels) and seventh in the world. These great tunnels will allow travelling from Madrid to Oviedo in 3 hours using high speed trains.

For their construction, five tunneling machines have been needed and up to 4,000 persons were working at the site at one time. The preservation of environmental features as a main objective has been taken into account both during construction planning and development.

The tunnels are equipped with weather stations distributed by DURÁN ELECTRÓNICA.
