Detection of toxic gases CO and NO2 and ultrasonic anemometers.
The purpose of this project is to cover the BI-637 road as it passes through Leioa, recovering 4,132m2 of surface area for pedestrian use and thus putting an end to the problems of noise pollution, as well as modernising the infrastructure and including improvements in ventilation, lighting and safety in the tunnel itself. In this way, they comply with the noise quality criteria (defined in Decree 213/2012 on noise pollution of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country).
In its modernisation, in addition to the walkable roofs, two non-walkable roofs have been installed at both entrances (in the Getxo and Bilbao directions) fitted with photovoltaic glass panels to optimise the use of energy. For greater protection of high acoustics and to limit the visual impact, 860 metres of screens will be installed on the edge of the road and 645 metres in the median, all of them 3 metres high.
The work, with more than 700,000 kg of rolled steel and 12 underground evacuation galleries, represents an investment of approximately 62.5 million euros.
For this project of great magnitude and complexity, in one of the areas with the highest traffic density in the whole territory, the detection of toxic gases is carried out with DURTOX CO and NO2 detectors manufactured by Durán Electrónica, and for environmental control, ultrasonic anemometers have been installed, distributed by Durán Electrónica.
